  • It is Boon for Developed countries and Bane for developing countries.
  • The term brain drain was coined by the Royal Society to describe the emigration of "scientists and technologists" to North America from post-war Europe.
  • Brain drain is the large-scale emigration of a large group of individuals with technical skills or knowledge. 
  • It is also Called as   human capital flight.
  • Advantages:


  1. The money remittances have also reduced the level and severity of poverty.
  2. Moreover, the money migrants sent back are spent more in investments such as education, health and housing, rather than on food and other goods.
  • Disadvantages


  1. Due to the influence of brain drain, the investment in higher education is lost as the highly educated person leaves India and becomes an asset to other country.
  2. The chances of Brain Waste are possible. In a similar way, there is a shortage of skilled andcompetent people in India.
